St. Paul History

With a membership of over 1300, our church is a vital part of the Goldsboro community. Members come from every business and social organization in the community. The music department excels in its quality and education and is open to all. The missions of the church are far reaching and an asset to everyone. In this church everyone finds love, help, and a religion that fills our souls. No one is turned away. New members and visitors are always welcome. COME JOIN US. We have prayed, planned, and built for the Glory of God and the establishment of this....His Church.

The Goldsboro Methodist Church was organized as the first church in Goldsboro in 1849 with 50 members. The First church building was completed on Spruce Street in 1850. After becoming a station charge in 1856, it was utilized until the 1880's.

The first parsonage was built on John Street in 1881. The church cornerstone was laid in 1883. The church was dedicated in 1890. The 1883 church lost its 150 foot steeple which was felled by hurricane Hazel in 1954. No services were missed, even during the war years.
